Login Error with 1.1.9 Empty Login Error with 1.1.9

Post  Misled3k Sat Nov 07, 2009 7:00 pm

So, I can log on to load my calendars list, but when I hit OK, i get an "unauthorized" error. Seems like the problem is that the gadget is deleting the first character of my password, because my password begins with a 0.

...and I really don't want to have to change my password. Rolling Eyes

I don't think that the first character of your password is deleted. To find out what happens, would you please follow https://ilab.forumotion.net/common-issues-solutions-f8/can-t-find-the-solution-t161.htm

Login Error with 1.1.9 Empty Re: Login Error with 1.1.9

This error did not happen with the previous version, it started happening precisely when I updated to this version.

I am 100% sure the first character of my password is being deleted (the first character of my password is a 0). This is because my password is 8 characters long. I load my calendars correctly, I hit OK, and I get the error. When I go back to the settings and click the Calendar tab, my password seems to have 7 characters. I click Log out, and click Log In, and I get a "403 Forbidden BadAuthentification" message. I put a "0" at the beginning of my password, making it 8 characters long again, and I can log in correctly. But as soon as I hit OK, i get the Unauthorized 401 error.

Again, this started happening when I updated to 1.1.9

Thank you for your help, Admin!

Well, I have just tried to add a leading 0 to my password, and it worked fine, so, it is weird.

FYI: before v1.1.9, the password was actually not even stored by the gadget, as it was used only for requesting an authentication token, and only the token was used later. In v1.1.9, it is needed to store the password because the password is needed to fetch GMail info. Therefore, if the gadget really has a password handling issue, you can just switch off GMail check option, and this way the stored password will be used for nothing.

Anyway, I have just uploaded GoogleCalendarPwdTrace.gadget to http://cid-9fcd0c96616e15b1.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public?uc=1. This is the same as v1.1.9 except for logging the password that it reads from the store at settings window open, that it writes to the store at settings window close and that it reads from the store at main window refresh. Please try it, and check the log whether the mentioned logged passwords are OK or not (just search for "password" in the log, there should be 3 instances). Please take care for NOT sending that log "as is" for anyone as it contains your password Smile, but please remove the passwords from the log and THEN send it to me. Please don't forget to create the empty file "trace" before trying the gadget, as it is described in
https://ilab.forumotion.net/common-issues-solutions-f8/can-t-find-the-solution-t161.htm

Thanks

Done, I already sent the email. As I suspected, the 0 is disappearing. I bet when you try it the 0 doesn't disappear because your password has non-numeric characters.

Small update on the situation... Turns out I unchecked the wrong box... unchecking the "Check Gmail" box did solve the situation! Thanks for the help!
(Although it would be nice to be able to use the "Check Gmail" feature on the next release )

Ahh I see now. So, your password contains ONLY numeric characters. In this case, this happens: the Gadget settings handler "framework" gets really smart and recognices that the data (your password) is numeric, therefore, the leading zeros can be skipped Smile
