Maybe today's date can be aligned to the left?

Suggestion:
Also it would nice to select the Google tasks from the calendars list instead and maybe use a color mark for it if possible.

I've noticed that you've changed "I Forgot The Milk" gadget's frame to look like the "Feed headlines" Gadget Smile

that looks nicer than the current Google Calendar gadget's frame.
