I would rather not display on the gadget, but you can easily check the version number on the gadget gallery (click the plus sign at the top of the sidebar on Vista, and I think right click / add gadgets on Win7): click on the gadget's image on the list, then click show details at the bottom.

problem is, sometimes its possible to have a gadget twice in gallery (2 versions), so which one should i keep?

Since no way of knowing from the gadget itself, i'm stuck guessing.

If you have two on the gallery then I think you should be able to check both versions on the gallery details and uninstall the old one.

Btw, I couldn't do that.

that's the problem, i may not like a new version or may find it buggy. not saying that's the case right now. but, if i remove the old one and i was still using it, its a hassle to reconfigure it all over again. not to mention i may not have the file on hand right now. not everyone is meticulous and saved them to disk before installing them.

anyway, its just a version number, every program has them, should'nt be a big deal to put it on the UI somewhere discrete.

Okay, I'll put it somewhere.

However, FYI:

1. You shouldn't have too much hassle with reconfiguration when downgrading to the previous version because of that settings.ini stuff we have just discussed in an other thread. The gadget will read the stored settings, even in case of downgrade (if there are some new settings in the new version which are not in the previous, they are just ignored)

2. You don't need to save the versions as you can download them anytime (at least a few) from the project website.
