New Item and Mode Change icons not showing up in White theme

I an new to googler and like it. However there is one small issue that I can't seem to resolve. When the theme is White, the Icons to the right of the date and to the left of the menu icon are not visible. I am presuming that is because the text is also white (I can click on them and still use them.) Can I get them to show up?
