Syntax Error -2146827286
Hi,
I'm on Win7 and keep getting this error. The calendar will not reload or load at all:
name: SyntaxError message: Syntax error number -2146827286 description: Syntax error. Not sure why but it started happening more often recently.
Thanks!

The log file url is changed in v1.1.7 to
c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\Google_Calendar_Agenda\debug.log
c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\Google_Calendar_Agenda\debug.log
Re: Syntax Error -2146827286
To Admin:
You are kinda wrong. It is caused by wrong XML file but it is not google's fault. The problem is that all the users who are having this problem have some kind of network restriction. For example in my case I have to log in into Cisco Clean Access in order to use internet. When your gadget starts, it gets wrong url and file contents from network because user is not logged into clean access (or similar network security) and all the web queries are getting redirected to clean access login page or something similar. The content of that file is wrong because of that. Your gadget needs to "flush" that file and re-request the XML content from google's server. My guess is that it still uses old redirected URL from the file when pressing Retry button. You can contact me at ccabypass at gmail dot com if you need extra help.

Generally, I disagree.
Anyway, I contact you in email and I will post here the results.

Having same problem
I believe this problem, for me at least, is being caused by the redirection of network traffic as Ocha described. I got the problem when I connected to my University's campus network, which redirects http traffic to a user login page until the user authenticates. Even after authenticating on the network though (actually, I just connected through a wired interface which does not require authentication and disconnected my wireless connection) the retry button did not refetch the http content correctly until I deleted these files as you directed. Thanks for the great gadget!

Okay, if you experience such issues, would you please try to uninstall the gadget and install v1.1.7.1, which you can find at http://cid-9fcd0c96616e15b1.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public
It has some quick-fixes:
- Fix: The UI looked broken on 120dpi windows display setting
- Fix: The files which are stored for persistence are ignored now in case of syntax errors in them
- Fix: Flyout should not be opened while the gadget is reloading and vice versa
- Req: Height is allowed to set up to 2000 pixels
- Mod: A bit more descriptive error message for receiving invalid data from Google Calendar service
And please share your experiences

Feedback on version 1.1.7.1
I installed the new version and connected to my campus wireless network without authenticating to replicate the issue. I refreshed my calendar and got the error: "Syntax error: invalid data is received from Google Calendar service." I then disconnected from the wireless network and reconnected my wired interface and clicked the retry button on the error. It then successfully refreshed my calendar, so the bug seems to be fixed, at least in my case. Thanks!

I agree as well
The same error for me started when I had a log onto a network that need a HTTP password to log into.

Putting it up on Windows?
I am wondering the same thing. Is the updated version being put on Windows? I'm understandably somewhat skeptical about downloading from people's accounts rather than from Windows direct.

Re: Syntax Error -2146827286
Please check whether the downloaded gadget is corrupted.
Please download and calculate the md5 hash of the file, it should be
e506aebf60f09690f6b7685f00732b93 *GoogleCalendar1.1.7.1.gadget
You can use any utility that supports md5 checksumming (for example total commander -> files -> create crc checksums -> click md5 checkbox

Thanks for posting the 1.1.7.1 update. I connect through Cisco Clean Access and this version actually works! This is the one that should be posted in Windows Live so everyone can have it. Thanks again for the update.
