Great Gadget but can we have Transparent theme please
I like having the smarter Option of Transparency for Theme
helps Blend all my Gadgets nicely in
Just Glad I finally got a good Gmail Calender
tho an Custum option for Custum amount of days would be nice .. I would like something closer to 2 months
21days is to short 100 days to long

I have spent a lot of time on the transparency subject and I found that it is not possible on Windows Sidebar.
I might be wrong, of course. If you can show me a gadget which draws text on transparent or semi-transparent backgound, I will check it.

There's a gadget called "Moon Phase II," which looks like it runs on a transparent background.

There was no link, but anyway, I have found the gadget.
It doesn't seem to draw text on transparent background.
So, to be clear: the problem is, when you have a (semi)transparent background and you draw text or put another transparent image on the (semi)transparent part of the background on a Windows sidebar gadget. In such a case, purple artifacts appear.
That's it, Windows sidebar sucks in this point of view

There's a gadget called Presto's Sidebar Clock. If you follow the directions on his website: to replace the background image and you replace the image with a transparent .png file, the clock draws text over a transparent background. I got it to work on my system. Thanks for looking into this!

The websites I'm trying to list aren't seeming to post. It's prestonhunt dot com slash story slash 110. Maybe that will post.

Re: Great Gadget but can we have Transparent theme please
Thanks for the example. Okay, I was not correct with that "not possible" as I already knew the way how that gadget works.
However, that way is just too restrictive, as all the elements, which the gadget is built of, must be positioned absolute way by design, plus it is almost impossible
to develop a user-definable gadget width and height and so on. In fact, practically almost all the features of html+css rendering are lost, which is not a big deal in the case of a gadget which puts two quasi fixed texts on a background but brings a huge work for a complicated display structure.
So, I might develop an alternate display mode for transparent backgrounds with less display features in the future (well, I also like semi transparent backgrounds) but that is a pretty huge work

Yeah, in thinking about it, you'd definitely have to sacrifice the flexibility of the gadget to get that transparency. Thanks for continuing to think about this, though!

Clipboarder seems to be a flexible yet transparent widget. You may have a look at it.

Re: Great Gadget but can we have Transparent theme please
That is a binary gadget, most of the code is distributed in a dll

Re: Great Gadget but can we have Transparent theme please
Btw, in the meanwhile, semi-transparent border support is available in Googler
